Wonders will never end but people are looking for amazing things, not something stupid. Ghana, the country formerly called Gold Coast, the new government has appointed 110 ministers for its cabinet.

Ghana's name might end in the Guinness Book of records as the first country in the world to appoint such a large number of ministers to run the state affairs.

Speaking on national television on Friday, Akufo-Addo said it was a necessity. “I’m aware that people are concerned about what they see as maybe the cost of this large government. “It is a necessary investment to make”, he said.

He also argued that the costs of his new government, would not be as high as people have complained about. “The number, for instance, among the deputy ministers, 42 out of 50 are all parliamentarians, and in effect converting them from parliamentarians into ministers, the marginal cost of that transformation is minimal in terms of the public exchequer,” he said.

The ministers are needed for the “rapid transformation of this country”, Akufo-Addo said.

Advice to Nana Akufo-Addo

It is not the number of people appointed as ministers will build a stable economy or develop the country but the efficiency of your ministers.

I live in Belgium. There is no inflation and the living standard is very good because of a stable economy but the Federal Government of Belgium consists of only 15 Ministers.

The Belgium Government has 15 ministers. Apart from the Prime Minister, the Federal Government consists of the same number of Dutch-speakers and French-speakers

Belgium's economy at the moment is one of the best in Europe and they made it under 15 ministers, yet the country hasn't half of the resources Ghana has.

Africa has been the center of mockery for too long. Nana, please, do something about this.
